1. How can I access Getwireless.net's Internet service?

Getwireless.net offers three connection options: (1) wireless broadband, (2) wired broadband, and (3) high-speed dial-up. You can make use of one, two, or all three!

2. How does Getwireless.net's Fixed-Point Wireless Internet service work?

Getwireless.net professionally mounts an antenna on your building (typically the roof), then runs an Ethernet cable down the outside wall of your business (we try to follow a rain gutter or other structure to hide the cable). We then bring the wire into your building by drilling a small hole or following an existing entry into the building, such as a duct or prior cable, phone or satellite TV installation entry. The Ethernet cable is typically installed into your phone room or demarkation point. If you need additional cabling or setup done, this can be quoted or done on an hourly basis.

3. How is it wired into my business?

Getwireless.net professionally mounts an antenna on your building (typically the roof), then runs an Ethernet cable down the outside wall of your business (we try to follow a rain gutter or other structure to hide the cable).   We then bring the wire into your building by drilling a small hole or following an existing entry into the building, such as a duct or prior cable, phone or satellite TV installation entry. The Ethernet cable is then installed into your computer, server, or other device (router, switch, etc.).

5. Does weather affect the service?

Wireless Internet access requires a "line-of-site" connection from your building to one of our towers. This means that any large trees, buildings or other obstructions may cause a degraded level of service. Our installers do a site survey before installing to make sure that there is a good signal. Weather will not typically cause a degradation of service, even in very severe storms. Your connection should remain stable even during winter months or other stormy periods. As with any service including, phone, electric or cable, if there is storm damage from a severe storm, our technicians will respond quickly to any outage.

6. What are the computer requirements for Getwireless.net Internet?

Minimum requirements:   Recommended requirements:   Pentium 233mhz or higher; Windows 98 or higher; 64MB RAM or higher; 100MB free hard drive space.   You need to have an Ethernet jack on the computer for us to connect to our service.   All newer computers have this jack; for an older computer there are cards and other options to add an Ethernet jack, and these are available at any computer store.

7. How does Getwireless.net Internet access differ from standard dial-up?

Unlike dial-up, our service is always on.   This means that there is no dialing, no waiting, and no need for a second phone line.   There is also a dramatic difference in speed - Getwireless.net is more than 100 times faster than dial-up service.

8. How long will it take to set up service?

We can typically have service installed within several days of placing an order.   Once we've determined that the service will work at your location, it takes about 2-3 hours to hook everything up.

9. Can I do the installation myself?

Not at the present time.

10. What about e-mail accounts?

If you already have e-mail accounts, you can access these accounts over the Getwireless.net Internet connection.

In many cases to block spam we block port 25, so you may need to work with your email vendor so that you can send mail on a port other than 25.

11. How reliable is Getwireless.net Internet service compared with wired services such as cable and DSL?

We have designed our wireless network to be as reliable as any wired network.

12. How fast is Getwireless.net's service?

Getwireless.net is available for speeds from 256Kb/s to 155Mb/s depending on the plan you select and the service available in your area.
